Our Interconnect Sessions:

Session ID: 5132A |  Tuesday, 11:30 AM – 12:15 PM | Mandalay Bay Ballroom L

Business disruptions and process changes in the modern enterprise are more frequent than ever. As a result, the business tolerance for lengthy IT projects has shrunk tremendously. While this drives growth of cloud platforms, companies must still effectively create value using these platforms in ways that fit with business timelines and availability. This session showcases how Doosan Bobcat takes advantage of the Blueworks Live, IBM BPM on Cloud, and Salient Process SPARK Ignition platforms in combination with a practical delivery methodology for going live with solutions in less than a month. The approach works with both new business process solutions and continuous process improvement releases, which ensures that all types of BPM releases generate measurable value.

Speakers:

Matthew Oatts, Salient Process
Marcia Moberg, Doosan Bobcat Inc

In 2016, IBM announced that it now provides selected enhanced support for the Salient Process SPARK Toolkits for IBM BPM, with a view to incorporate this technology into a future product release (subject to change). The SPARK UI toolkit provides over 90 responsive controls, including mobile-specific features to create stylish UIs with modern, interactive user experiences, and can increase UI developer productivity up to four times compared with traditional techniques. This session provides an overview of the SPARK UI toolkit capabilities; covering its powerful, event-based framework, formulas for cross-field calculations, designing for performance, handling large data sets, geolocation, maps, drag-and-drop document controls, and theming.

Speakers:

Dennis Parrott, IBM
Eric Ducos, Salient Process
Jared Michalec, Salient Process

Session ID: 4253A | Tuesday, 4:45 PM – 5:30 PM | Mandalay Bay Ballroom I

Firearm regulations in the US are constantly changing and becoming more complex, and the stakes could not be higher. If these regulations are violated, the company at fault could face large fines and penalties or, even worse, a weapon could end up in the hands of the wrong person. Brownells, the world’s largest supplier of gun parts, gunsmith tools and shooting accessories, has been able to leapfrog its competition by putting these evolving business rules in the hands of its compliance experts. Come hear how this recent implementation of IBM ODM on Cloud was achieved in a matter of a couple of months, and the vision this forward-thinking organization has for the future of firearm safety.

Speakers:

Jared Michalec, Salient Process
Curt Graff, Brownells

Session ID: 1399A | Wednesday, 10:15 AM – 10:35 AM | Engagement Theater Booth #588

IBM Business Process Manager (BPM) helps many customers to automate human workflows for their employees. To facilitate real business, many business processes need to involve external partners: suppliers or customers (B2B)—possibly even consumers (B2C). When providing access to a powerful application development and execution platform such as IBM BPM, a special focus on security is required. This session will take you through the most important security considerations and suggest two architectures for exposing BPM outside the enterprise: building a dedicated user interface and using the Salient Process SPARK External Participant Toolkit.

Speakers:

Jens Engelke, IBM
Eric Ducos, Salient Process

Session ID: 1868A | Wednesday, 1:00 PM – 2:45 PM | South Seas I2

This lab will introduce you to the fundamentals of the SPARK UI Toolkit. Learn about various layout capabilities, see how to create highly interactive user interfaces using event handling and formulas, and explore the various mobile controls: geo-location, geo-coding, maps and places.

Eric Ducos, Salient Process
Matthew Oatts, Salient Process
Thalia Hooker, IBM

Session ID: 5097A | Wednesday, 3:45 PM – 4:05 PM | Engagement Theater Booth #588

Process documentation becomes stale more quickly than ever in today’s rapidly changing businesses. This leads many business users to abandon following the process, which ultimately diminishes return on process analysis investments. By using IBM Blueworks Live and establishing a governance framework that fits your enterprise needs, you can empower your business and IT teams to work together on process documentation that works for everyone. This session will showcase a governance model that promotes flexible organic growth of Blueworks Live while generating measurable business process value.

Matthew Oatts, Salient Process
